A little over a year ago I came across a contest that the contestant was nominated and then voted for over the next several months and lastly would be chosen by a panel of 10 judges. To be nominated you must have made an impact on someone or some people. That impact could be either by changing something in their life or somehow made the word a little better.
I nominated my eldest daughter. She spent the previous two years caring for her terminally ill husband. Her second husband to be exact and at the time of his diagnoses they had only been married for 13mos. To complicate things a bit more, she also had two preteen Daughters and one preteen step Daughter.
She spend most of her time juggling treatment appointments, Doctor's appointments. Shuffling little Girls to various functions either school or friends and still maintaining a household.
The last few days of this contest coincided with the death of her husband. Our minds were pre-occupied with arrangements and taking care of 3 little girls that had just lost their daddy. All the while Family and Friends were voting like crazy for her. We were so happy to learn that she made the top 100 candidates out of several hundred entries. Even tho she didn't win the top monetary prize, She won something more precious, Love.
The out pouring of Love all around her couldn't have been any better. She was the real winner.
